Meet my friend Amanda. I met her at the gym and have gotten to know her through some crazy workouts and chit-chatting after class. She has a great story about how she got to where she is today, so I asked her if she'd be willing to share it - I was delighted she said yes :) THANK YOU for the inspiration Amanda!! You are looking AWESOME!

Losing weight has been at the forefront of my mind for over 20 years.   Yes, 20 years!  I have run multiple half marathons, a full marathon, tried Weight Watchers, low carb diets, low fat diets, etc.  I even tried not eating, but that lasted about 30 minutes.  Will power is not my thing!  Yet, my goal was never met.

What was I doing wrong?  Why were these things working for my friends, but not me?  How could it be that my husband could just say he wanted to lose a few pounds and within days the scale was singing him a lovely tune of victory.  I couldn’t figure it out, so in frustration, I threw my hands in the air and gave up.  Turns out that was a dumb ass idea, because I gained 10 more pounds and then couldn’t fit into my fat pants.

I am a wife, mom of 3, part-time teacher, grocery-getter, and pool rat.  My twins are now 4, so I decided it was time to lose the baby fat, for real!  The past 4 years have been crazy and exhausting, but my babies are in preschool (thank you Jesus for those bless-ed preschool teachers!) and I am only working in the morning, so I have some “me” time now.

This was my year to make a change.

The only thing standing in my way of getting help to achieve this goal was the money. Doesn’t it always come down to the money? I was determined to find a way, so I organized 3 garage sales, sold all my baby stuff (because I AM DONE WITH THAT STUFF) and asked for nothing but monthly dues for my birthday, Christmas, and anniversary gifts from anyone who asked.

With the needed funds secured, I started boot camp at MyLeanBody Boot Camp and signed up for a 2-month plan with the Diet Doc. The Diet Doc included one-on-one food mentoring and accountability, which is exactly what I needed.  The program gives guidelines for macronutrients and how to spread them out throughout the day.  I learned how to eat in a healthy way that ultimately gave the results I was looking for.

In the last 6 months, I have lost 25 lbs and dropped 4 pant sizes.  Of course, my weight loss is MOST noticeable in the boob and butt area, but I’ll take it anyway! Now I get to go shopping for new clothes, in a size I haven’t seen since middle school!!

I am starting to realize that my health and wellbeing should be a part of the family budget as well.  I want to give them the best version of me possible.  I am also learning the value of loving myself and investing in me.   - Amanda
